Acrylic on Paper
This is the best option as far as cost and time is concerned. different papers are available as well as sizes which will give slightly differing finishes.

Oil On Canvas 
This option is the most expensive and the most time consuming to undertake, however you will get the best portrait or painting in this media. The size you choose will dictate both price and time-frame, but you need to be aware that an oil painting will take more time than acrylic.

Acrylic On Canvas 
Like oil on canvas this is a very good option however it is more expensive than using paper but produces the second best option after oil. Additionally, you will achieve the appearance of oil as the painting will be varnished, if you wish. The size you choose will dictate price.
